This is a plain-language summary. It's written to be readable, not lawyerly. Contact jackson@thinkrecursion.ai with questions.

Who this applies to

This policy covers snail, a product operated by RecursionAI (“we,” “us”). It applies to anyone who signs up for the waitlist, uses the hosted snail service, or runs a self-hosted snail instance.

What we collect

snail only works when you connect it to your own business tools. Once connected, your snail pulls data from those sources on your behalf. That data can include, depending on what you connect:

  • Website analytics (traffic, events, page metrics)
  • CRM records (contacts, deals, pipeline activity)
  • Email metadata (opens, click rates, sender/recipient)
  • Code repository activity (commits, PRs, deploys)
  • Anything you push via webhook from other services you choose to connect

We also collect basic account info (email address) when you join the waitlist or create an account, and standard server logs when you use the hosted service.

How we store it

Your connected data is stored in the snail account you control. On the hosted service, it lives in infrastructure operated by RecursionAI. On a self-hosted snail, it lives entirely on your own hardware and never leaves your network.

Credentials and API tokens you provide for integrations are encrypted at rest. Analysis results (trails, signals, briefs) are stored so you can review historical activity.

We don't share your data

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. Your data is yours.

The narrow exceptions: (1) service providers we rely on to run the hosted service (for example, cloud hosting) operate under contracts that prohibit secondary use; (2) if we're compelled by valid legal process, we'll respond as required and notify you where permitted; (3) if the company is acquired, data transfers to the acquirer subject to this policy.

AI inference happens on Courier

snail uses Courier, RecursionAI's private inference engine, for all AI analysis. Your data is not sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any third-party model provider.

On the hosted service, inference runs on RecursionAI-operated Courier instances. On a self-hosted snail, inference runs on Courier running on your own hardware — your data never leaves your network at any point.

Self-hosting

snail is available as a self-hosted product. If you self-host, we have no visibility into your data or activity beyond what you voluntarily share with us (for example, if you contact support). The data collection and sharing practices described above only apply to the RecursionAI-hosted service.

Retention and deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing jackson@thinkrecursion.ai. We'll complete deletion within 30 days.

Cookies and analytics

The marketing site uses Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate traffic. It does not track individual users across sites or build ad profiles. The snail product itself does not use third-party ad or tracking cookies.

Your rights

You can request a copy of the data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, or request deletion, at any time. Email jackson@thinkrecursion.ai.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as snail evolves. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app before they take effect. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
